Fall isn’t quite officially here yet, but the wedding season is in full bloom. According to The Knot 2016 Real Weddings Study, September and October are two of the most popular months for weddings—yes, even more popular than June!—and the fall season paints a beautiful backdrop for outdoor receptions and ceremonies.
If you’re planning a fall wedding, your details are likely wrapped up (or we hope they are!). However, if you’re eyeing autumn 2018 for your future wedding, you and your beloved are likely in the early stages of prep work.
Settling on a fall wedding means crisper temperatures in some areas as well as the beauty of fall foliage, but the season also ushers in its own style, colors and flavors. Here are a few beautiful suggestions to integrate into your future fall wedding…if you’re on the hunt for inspiration!
Taste of Fall
Apples, spices and pumpkin! This is the season for apple picking and pumpkin patches. Use the fall bounty as inspiration for your wedding entrees. Serve up pumpkin soups, apple pie for a dessert option or maybe host a caramel apple station! If you’re hosting an outdoor reception, warm up guests with hot cinnamon apple cider.
Pantone always releases color forecasts for the fall/winter fashion season. This year’s popular palette shades Butterum, Tawny Port, Shaded Spruce and Autumn Maple echo the warm hues of fall. However, Neutral Gray, cool blue Marina and Ballet Slipper (a pale blush pink) also made the cut for colors. Check out the full color report from Pantone and integrate the season’s hottest hues within your bouquet or as a main color for the wedding party.
If the weather permits, head outdoors to capture the beauty of the season—especially if you live in an area that feature beautiful fall foliage. Snap selfies in front of colorful trees or have leaf fights captured with colors flying throughout the wind. Talk with your photographer to find the best backdrops for your album and definitely inquire about capturing overhead pictures with a drone to showcase the wedding party amongst the colorful foliage!
According to Elle, metallics are major for fall. Metallic shadows add a chrome punch to a bridal beauty look. Feeling bold? Opt for a matte metallic lip. For a subtle sheen, select metallic flats for you and the bridal party—gold or silver are stunning choices.
For cool fall ceremonies, nod to the Kate Effect and choose long sleeves for a little more coverage. Lace sleeves are timeless and pure romance. Of course, some of fall 2017’s most beautiful wedding dresses also include feathers and ruffles. Martha Stewart Weddings also notes that asymmetry is a key feature in many designer wedding collections. And don’t worry if you look terrible in white…choose a color you love (this isn’t a trend…it’s a MUST). Yes, you can even wear black!
For couples in the midst of planning out the details for their fall wedding, there are many trends to inspire inspiration. However, select colors and looks that make you happy. This is, after all, your big day. While the season inspires flavors and colors, you always can go for something bold and completely unexpected (taco food trucks!). Celebrate your love, your style and your personality…and let your day reflect pure bliss!
